Chewton Glen (Treehouses)
A pretty tree house in quiet woodland with every amenity you could wish for on the doorstep? It sounds too good to be true but Chewton Glen’s tree houses are something to be experienced. They are elegant and comfortable with the right sense of light for the daytime and cosy fires for the cooler evenings.
There are many amazing hotels in the UK that boast stunning grounds and impeccable service but this one has real tree houses! It made me feel the excitement a child feels in their first den with a torch and a duvet! It is such a different offering that you cannot fail to be impressed by the product.
What a brochure cannot convey is the generosity of the place and that is what I came away hugely impressed with. On arrival there are personalised treats for the children. The small kitchen area in the tree house has the most incredible coffee machine, a full fridge with generous snacks, drinks and lots of small touches that mean you don’t really have to leave your tree house at all. There is even a small hatch where your breakfast is delivered each day so they do not disturb you. The staff members know your name after day one and go out of their way to make sure you are being looked after.
Their tree house room service menu reads like a great restaurant and the set up feels nothing like room service as you dine outside on your huge balcony. It is perfect for kids not wanting a structured environment or fast asleep upstairs as you open a bottle of something sparkling.
Their spa is famous for good reason and it really is exceptional. The variety of treatments and hydro pools etc is amazing. They have lovely lounges, a cosy bar area and a stunning Croquet lawn and outside pool with terrace for the summer.
Sometimes I visit hotels and come away with a long list of things in my mind that could be done to improve the place but here, someone has been over this list already and implemented it all! A perfect example is how to combine a child friendly hotel with one indoor pool with peace craving stressed out adults who want to escape and relax in the spa and indoor pool. They implement generous but limited children’s swimming times for the indoor pool. My clients will not only appreciate this for the calmer times but also because, as a family, you do not want to have to worry the whole time if your kids are having a lovely (slightly noisy) time. This careful planning ensures no one is put out at all.
There is a short stroll to a beach and so much to do nearby that, as a destination, Chewton Glen offers a fantastic array of options but that is only if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful and exciting tree houses. There is something wonderful about your first coffee of the day being on a balcony, serenaded by bird song but something even better when it is from your very own tree house! You feel like a child in a magical den but this one has a hot tub and Ren amenities.
